About OneUrb

What this is

OneUrb is an independent local guide: one fast page per city with the day's headlines, local blogs, events, things to do, businesses, and weather. No accounts, no tracking scripts beyond basic analytics, no sponsored rankings.

How ranking works

Things-to-do places rank by mentions across independent local guides and best-of lists. Nothing on the ranked lists is paid placement; sponsored businesses are labeled as sponsors where they appear.

Score = 3 Ă— top-tier guide mentions + 2 Ă— mid-tier mentions + 1 Ă— other mentions, plus up to 3 recency points (sources newer than a year) and up to 2 top-three-placement points, minus decay (halved with no mention in over two years). Ties break by source count, then editorial review. Each ranked card names its sources and its last-verified date.

Rankings are seasonal where reality is seasonal: bat flights at Congress Bridge wind down around November, swimming holes peak in summer. Seasonal notes appear on the affected cards.

Businesses come from OpenStreetMap data plus hand-checked fixtures. Star ratings appear only with a cited source and review count; unsourced numbers are withheld, not shown.

Spotted something wrong or closed? Email [email protected] with the city and the listing. Factual fixes ship with the next daily build.

Privacy

Reading requires nothing from you. Saved events and city preference live only in your browser's local storage; nothing leaves your device and there is no account to create. Contact email is used only to answer you.

Newsletter

One email a week per city: the top stories, the weekend's events, and one thing worth doing. No spam, no list-selling, unsubscribe anytime. While automated signup is built, email [email protected] with “Subscribe me” and your city — a human adds you.

Submit an event

Organizing something local? Email [email protected] with the event name, venue, date and time, ticket link, and one line of description. Free community events go up first; everything submitted is verified against the venue before it lists.

Claim your business

Own a listed business? Email [email protected] from a business address with the listing name and the correction — hours, phone, website, or closure. Verified claims update with the next daily build. Paid placement lives only in the labeled sponsor slot, never in rankings.
